2014 was some what of a breakthrough year for Jacques after he overcame some health issues in the December of 2013. Jacques went on to win the Mzansi Tour overall and also showed some classy climbing talent at the Tour of Langkawi, Luxembourg and Coppa Bartali. His consistency netted him a spot in the 2014 Vuelta squad where he again impressed, riding into 4 breakaways and climbing with the worlds best on stage 18. This was the perfect build up to the 2015 season where he rode an incredible debut Tour de France while wearing the national champions jersey of South Africa.
Jacques went on to start the 2016 season on a high, winning the combination classification of the Tour of Oman. At the Vuelta a Espana he was part of a successful breakaway on stage 8 where he finished 6th himself. He’ll look to further progress in 2017.
