Johann van Zyl

Johann van Zyl is one of the most promising young riders from South Africa. He is a former double under 23 SA National Road Champion. Johann was ecstatic at signing his first professional contract with Africa’s Team in 2013. He has always been a hard working rider and a helper on the team while learning how to develop into a race winner. Last year he proved he is the latter by taking out the stage 5 win at the Tour of Austria after an impressive solo breakaway.

Being in more breakaways than almost anyone else last year, Johann will take his aggressive riding style into 2017 as he also looks to improve in the race against the clock. The young South African had a number of promising time trial results last year and will look to target the discipline once again when given the opportunity. Coming close to a stage win at the Giro d’Italia showed that Johann made another step in his development.
