Egan Bernal (Team Sky) won the stage 3 individual mountain time trial at the Tour de Romandie. Overall race leader from stage 2, Primoz Roglic (LottoNL-Jumbo) held on to his yellow jersey by placing 2nd while Richie Porte (BMC Racing) was 3rd.
Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka were looking to Merhawi Kudus for today’s stage 3 uphill time trial but the slightly built Eritrean could not match the impressive pace set by the race favourites. Kudus went on to finish 3’27” behind Bernal, in 50th position on the stage.
With still 2 stages remaining at the Tour de Romandie and large time gaps between the race leader and all riders outside of the top 10, our African Team will hope to take advantage of what could be an open race with for the final 2 stage victories.
