Alexander Kristoff (Team UAE Emirates) sprinted to victory at the GP du Canton d’Argovie. 2nd place went the way of the Francesco Gavazzi (Androni) and Marco Canola (Nippo) rounded out the podium.
The GP du Canton d’Argovie once again took place over its familiar 185km circuit course. 4 riders jumped away from the peloton early on, forming the break of the day. They were able to gain a lead of over 7-minutes as the peloton rolled along in the Swiss sunshine.
Eventually, UAE Emirates and Bora-Hansgrohe began setting the pace for their sprinters. The gap started to decrease and it was evident another bunch gallop would decide the race. Our African Team, without a sprinter at the race, tried to find an opportunity on the small climb a few kilometers from the finish-line passage but it just was not hard enough to try and distance the other teams sprinters.
Tom-Jelte Slagter, Julien Vermote, Merhawi Kudus and Igor Anton would finish safely with the front group. Scott Davies and Nic Dougall’s jobs were done earlier on in the race, after some strong work at the head of the peloton.
