Tom Dumoulin (Team Sunweb) won the stage 20 Tour de France individual time trial ahead of Chris Froome (Team Sky) and Geraint Thomas (Team Sky). Thomas comfortably held onto the overall race lead and will take the yellow jersey to Paris tomorrow.
The stage 20 individual time trial took place over a technical 31km course in the Basque Country. It would prove to be the final battle among the overall GC contenders as the hilly course lent itself to yellow jersey top contenders.
Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka started today’s stage with one eye already focused on tomorrow’s final stage in Paris. Our 5 riders all completed the course without hassle and were able to conserve some energy for tomorrow’s final opportunity to win a stage at this year’s Tour de France.
Dumoulin was the fastest around the course today, taking the stage win by just 1 second from Froome. Froome’s strong ride saw him regain 3rd place overall from Primoz Roglic (LottoNL-Jumbo). By placing 3rd on the stage, Thomas has ensured that the yellow jersey will be going to Paris on his shoulders tomorrow.
