Scott Davies followed up his excellent performance in stage 2 of the Tour of Britain with a gritty ride in stage 3, in the process ensuring he remained in the King of the Mountains jersey and also moved into 10th spot on the GC.
The 127km stage starting and finishing in Bristol was won by Julian Alaphilippe (Quick-Step Floors) who saw off Patrick Bevin (BMC) and Emīls Liepins (One Pro) who was third.
The racing itself was high-paced with numerous attempts at forming breakaways with Tony Martin (Katusha) prominent before the 4-man group was finally caught within the final 10km.
That last stretch included a final climb up Providence Hill and the eventual sprint, won by the Frenchman.
Scott Davies – Rider
It was a tough day all day really, it never eased up with it being such a short stage. I managed to cling on in the end there. we have the position in the GC and I kept the jersey so that’s a bonus.
I think for the rest of the week we’ll look to get stuck in and get in the breakaways. I think we’re keen to go stage hunting and (hopefully) come away with a victory.
