Davide Ballerini (Androni Giocatolli) took his second win in as many days as he won the 195km Trofeo Matteotti starting and finishing in Pescara.
A strong performance from performance from Ben O’Connor saw the young Australian take 10th spot as he finished among the leaders.
The 22-year old managed to find himself in all the decisive breaks on the day and picked up valuable World Tour points in the process.
Nic Dlamini, who had been in the early break of the day, was our only other finisher in 30th place.

The start turned out to be one of the most decisive parts. As soon as we started I thought this is harder than the profile looks, so on the first lap I went all in and managed to split the peloton early.
Other teams had more representation so it was then a waiting game until around 3 laps to go in making sure I didn’t miss a group with all the bigger teams in.
In the finale I was able to break away with 4 or 5 others – I tried to break away but the others were strong. We then came back on the descent, meaning an upcoming sprint which is for far from my favourite situation. It was really great to feel form move in an upwards trend again!
