Serge Pauwels

Rider

Serge is a really strong tour rider who climbs well and rides strongly in the time trial too. His skill set is an important part to the team’s success in the team time trial discipline as well as being the right-hand man to the teams GC riders if he is not the designated leader himself. In 2016 Serge came 2nd on stage 12 of the Tour de France, which finished on the iconic Mt. Ventoux. 2017 though saw Serge take a much-deserved win, winning the final stage and GC of the Tour de Yorkshire.

The experience Serge has gained in this role makes him the perfect rider to support someone like Louis Meintjes. Serge already has 11 grand tours under his belt and to have a rider of his calibre still on our team, to assist in the success of young African riders and light up the Tour de France breakaway’s as he has in the past 2 years, is major coupe for our African Team.
