Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka got the 2019 season off to a fast start with 4 of our riders going onto the attack at the Down Under Crit.

Ben O’Connor, Nic Dlamini, Lars Bak & Tom-Jelte Slagter all had a dig off the front during the 1hr + 1 lap crit. It all came down to the expected sprint in the end though and where unfortunately, our South African sprinter, Ryan Gibbons was involved in the mass crash on the final corner of the race.

“Everyone was looking forward to this first hit out off the season. A great crowd turned out in down town Adelaide and we had a lot of support from the local Dimension Data Australia team, which was awesome. I was keen to test my legs in the first sprint of the season but unfortunately when a couple of guys crashed in front of me in the final kilometer, I had know where to go but over my bars. It’s a bummer but that’s sprinting, I’m healthy still and am looking forward to having another crack at the Santos Tour Down Under next week” – Ryan Gibbons
