Dylan Groenewegen (Team Visma-Jumbo) sprinted to the final stage victory of the Vuelta Valenciana as Jon Izagirre (Team Astana) took out the overall race victory.

The Vuelta Valencia came to a close with just a short 88km sprint stage ending in a few circuit laps in the main city. It was a technical local lap in Valencia, that saw a large crash in the final kilometers, but fortunately none of our Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka riders were involved.

Boasson Hagen got through the carnage on the final lap to contest the sprint, but it was Groenewegen who was fastest. Our Norwegian capped off a good week of racing by taking 9th on the final stage and also placing 9th overall.

“Overall, we had a good week as team here in Valenciana. We got the first win of the season through Edvald and then the guys rode brilliantly every day to defend the jersey, right up until yesterday’s Queen stage. Building on from what our team did in Australia and Argentina already, we have now laid a solid foundation for what is to come the rest of this season” – Alex Sans Vega (Sport Director)
